Mail Call

Today was another extra-special mail day. Everyone received a package from Uncle Richard, Aunt Margie, Ashley and Sean down in Texas which included candy (it vanished before I could get the camera) bracelets, army men, seeds, and bulbs. We are hoping for lots of pretty flowers!

When we returned home from Good Friday services, there was yet another ice cream cake waiting. This one was still frozen. Someone commented that with this being the 3rd round of birthday ice cream for Lily, she is 6 instead of 3! Now everyone is expecting their number of presents from Granny to equal their new birthday age. Let's see, how old will I be this year...good thing she has until November to be save up!

Milking Day

An apology for no actual milking pics. The disk decided it needed to be reformatted and I could not take any pics. A special thanks to Jenn who so graciously opened her barn to us and to Nathan for all his help. We had a great time, learned alot, and 5 of us actually milked the La Manchas. We are now trying to figure out housing for the next inevitable member of the farm family.
Oh yeah, and as a special treat, we visited a small town and had our first actual BBQ since leaving Texas. Don't know which was better, the meat or the Blue Bell afterwards! Yes, we miss Texas food!

Spring is Here!

What a lovely surprise as we found these blooming today.
It was especially beautiful out, with blue skies (yeah, no rain) and warmer temps (50s). The waterfalls on the property are very calming and tranquil. Add that to the frogs singing their little froggy ditties and birds singing their little birdie diddies and you really don't want to come inside.
Grandpa and Grandma sent a big box of Easter candy that the children REALLY liked! They always get excited to get a package, but when they saw who this one was from, they went wild!

Oh What a Glorious Day!

Why are these chicks smiling? They are out of our living room!
Mom is really smiling!

Bringing in the hens for the evening.
No, not into the living room, into the hen house.
Yes, those are snow boots and shorts.

Apple Pie...Yum!

We took a break from picking up rocks to make an apple pie, yummy!

Field of Dreams

We are looking to transform this field into a productive garden.

Here is the plan: blue lake green beans, MO wonder pole beans, beets, brocolli, cabbage, cantelope, carrots, corn, cucumber, ground cherry, lettuce, okra, yellow onion, wando peas, alderman tall telephone peas, peanuts, pink eye purple hull peas, small sugar pumpkin, radish, spinach, squash, winter squash, watermelon, basil, calendula, cilantro, chamomile, echinacea, lavender, lemon balm, oregano, peppermint, sunflower, and flowering tobacco (for bug control). What do you think?

There are SO MANY rocks, this was just about 50 feet or so of the larger ones!

Anyone in the market for rocks?
