Kinda Puts a New Spin on Things...

when you go to wash up the children on Saturday evening so they (and yourself) smell squeaky clean for the Lord's Day after a hard day of playing and getting dirty with all the neighborhood dogs (ok, the dogs really out number the neighbors as our only neighbor in view raises hunting dogs) and you discover that your well is out, again. For you city folk, that means no water. Do you realize how much you depend on water for daily tasks? Reminds me of Christ telling the woman at the well that He is the Living Water. Do I depend on Him as much as indoor plumbing? Do I take the time each day to get into His Word and fill me with that Living Water that I may never thirst again? Thank you Lord for the lesson in coming to you, depending on you for all that I am and all that I have. Thank you for using illustrations that I can understand!

Thank you Lord that all the really smelly laundry was done earlier in the day. Wish I would have done those dishes instead of unpacking books!

Hoping for water Monday...

Call in the Expert?

I have been cleaning up so much puke and poop the last couple of days, my children told me I should call Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs. I love their encouragement!

Finding God's Favor

"And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women."
"And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God."
Luke 1:28, 30 KJV

What does it mean to you to find favor with God?

Mary was probably ridiculed in unbelief by friends and family. She could have been under the threat of public stoning. She found favor with God.

Mary was to give birth to a child that was born to die. She found favor with God.

Mary was to give birth in a smelly barn with animals, and not only sheep, goats, and cattle, but probably rodents and flies also. She found favor with God.

Mary would have to flee her homeland to a foriegn country to escape that murder of her young son. She found favor with God.

Mary would watch as her first born sone was hated, beaten, spit on, ridiculed, and brutally crucified, murdered. She found favor with God.

Not her parents, fiance, or neighbors.

What does it mean to you to find favor with God? Favor means that God has laid His hand on our life. Make the favor of God your total focus and everything else will fall into place. If you have found favor with God, does that mean everything will go well in your life? Do we look at our circumstances with eternity in mind? Do we look more to our comfort than to our sanctification? Do we look to make things comfortable for us or do we look at hard situations as a way to bring glory to God? Do we thank God for putting His favor on our lives or do we ask Him to take it away?

"And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. For He hath regarded the low estate of His handmaiden: for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed."
Luke 1:46-48

Mary glorified God and humbly accepted His will for her life as a servant. Do we accept the hardships that God allows into our lives as tools that will refine us and remove the junk of this world from us as we are formed into the image of Christ?

Will future generations call you blessed? Will they remember the spiritual legacy you are leaving?

Rachel's song

God you are so good to me

God you are so good to me
You made the Sun so Bright the Moon at Night
God you are so good to me

You made my sisters and my brother
You made my mom and my dad
my uncle and aunt
God you are so good to me

God you are so good to me
You made the Sun so Bright the Moon at Night
God you are so good to me

You made the world and everyone in it
I love You Lord
God you are so good to me

God you are so good to me
You made the Sun so Bright the Moon at Night
God you are so good to me

You picked me up when I was down
God you are so good to me

God you are so good to me
You made the Sun so Bright the Moon at Night
God you are so good to me

I love you Lord !

All is on and ready to go!

We now have electricity, running water, telephone. When we first moved in, we did not have running water for a few days and that was challenging. It really opened my eyes as to how spoiled I have become in that some of our world does not have the convenience of indoor plumbing. What joy of just being able to wash my hands with warm water inside! The phone also was not supposed to be on until the end of the month, but they hooked it up this week. Yeah! Communications with the outside world, as we are out of the reach of our cellphone. And finally, internet!!

Our first icing!

Our first icing in. Notice the bush covered in ice behind Ronnie and the icles on the gate behind the children. burr!
We are thanking God for our wood-burning stove!

the new homestead

We are on a beautiful 30-acre tract in the Ozarks with (what they tell us) abundant deer and turkey! Hopefully in the spring it will begin to look more like a family farm.
